Messaging and Collaboration refers to any software, device, or service that enables/enhances the exchange of communication or information between faculty, staff, or students.
Calendaring – The ability to schedule meetings between single, multiple, or groups of people, as well as the ability to schedule conference rooms.
Web Meetings – The ability to conduct and manage meetings across the Internet. The standard tool used by UW Colleges and Extension for this function is Blackboard Collaborate.
Document Sharing – The ability to share documents with internal and external users, and in some cases concurrently edit documents. The standard tool used by UW Colleges and Extension for this function is SharePoint, although there is some use of Dropbox as well as Box.com.
E-mail (Faculty, Staff, and Student) – The ability to send an electronic letter to a single person, multiple people, or groups of people and store those messages for later reference.
ListServ Management – The ability to manage lists of e-mail addresses and moderate the use of the e-mails lists so that only approved users can use them. The standard tool used by UW Colleges and Extension for this function is Mailman.
