The process of creating/removing accounts, managing account information, and providing access to data, applications, systems, and other IT resources.

Application Management involves the implementation, hosting, maintenance and support of various enterprise applications to ensure that these applications continue to meet the operational needs of the University. Some the applications included in this service are:

Desktop Support refers to a range of services Central IT provides to users of technology products such as computers, printers, mobile phones, and software products. Included in the services are troubleshooting specific problems with technical equipment, providing training, customization, or other support services. Technical support will be provided by phone, remote access, onsite or through online communications.

Providing and managing computing environments (servers, storage, etc.) that support multiple application needs, from simple HTML websites to complex/resilient application/database hosting, including hosting of third party applications.

The IT Security service consists of activities essential to protecting sensitive UW Colleges and Extension data, the personally identifiable information of faculty and staff, and ensuring that UW Colleges and Extension are compliant with all Federal and State regulations.

Central IT Services provide staff and faculty across the state with a single point of contact for issues regarding software training and support for learning technologies.  Whether in the classroom or out, the staff provides expertise in utilizing technology for learning and teaching.

Central IT Services provide a secure location for the storage and streaming of audio and video files. Current file types supported by this service are Windows Media Video (.wmv), Real Media (.rm) and QuickTime (.mov).

Messaging and Collaboration refers to any software, device, or service that enables/enhances the exchange of communication or information between faculty, staff, or students.

Network Management encompasses the activities necessary to facilitate the communication between computer systems and to ensure that the performance of this communication meets the needs of the business processes using it.

Technology Consulting is the function of advising campus and division units on how best to use information technology to meet their objectives.
